  • The App captures your movement in two complementary ways:

    1. GPS tracking (real-time activities)

    • Accessible from the Activity tab → “Record”

    • Use when you ‘d like your walk, run, or ride to be reflected immediately after you finish the activity in the rankings and through out the app including your “My history” tab

    2. Pedometer tracking (background steps)

    • From the time you sign up to the event until the end, all your steps are automatically tracked/counted when you carry the phone with you.

    • Works without opening the app

    • Converts steps into distance

    👉 Unlike Option 1 (GPS):

    • Distance is not reflected instantly

    • It is consolidated and displayed at the end of the day (or early next day)

    • It appears in My History as a “pedometer activity”

  • Go to “My Activity” / “My History”:

    • GPS activities → appear immediately

    • Pedometer activity → appears once daily (after consolidation)

    • Your pedometer steps are never lost

    • However, importantly, you must open the app daily (the ranking screen Ranking) for your pedometer activities to get uploaded to the cloud and then pushed to all screens in the app.

    • Each day, your pedometer steps are logged and visible and reflected under “My activites” as “pedometer” as of 12:00

  • No.
    Your daily steps are tracked automatically through the embedded pedometer.

    However, you should open the app (ranking screen) ideally daily

    • Sync your data

    • Update rankings

    • Ensure your activity is reflected across the app.

  • 1) For pedometer activities :

    • Pedometer activities get posted daily at 12:00. If you have never seen any pedometer activities posted in “My history”, that probably mean that you haven’t given Permission to BetterMiles to ready your Healthy app. Please check out the User Guide for screen shots

    • If you have had Pedometer activities posted on “My History” but you are missing a day or more, it is mostly likely because you didn’t open the app on the ranking screen. Opening the app sync your miles. Make sure you open the ranking screen daily for your miles to get posted. Once you do, you will see the missing pedometer activities posted.

    2) For GPS activities :

    • If you record your activity by going to the “Activity tab/record”, once you finished the activity by pressing the red stop button, it will be reflected shortly through out the app.

    • If not, it must be a permission issue. Please check userguide for screen shots on how to enable permission

    • If you need more trouble shooting, go the “My profile/help” tab to share your issue with the chatbbot

    👉 Opening the app (especially Rankings) usually resolves this.

  • Every mile you complete contributes to unlocking part of the $50,000 pledged by JPMorgan.

    👉 The more the community moves, the more funding is unlocked for charities.

    • It’s a good idea to review the User Guide available in this FAQ for a full walkthrough

    • You can also go to the “My Profile” tab → Help button, which opens the chatbot “BetterFriend”, available 24/7 to answer any questions

  • Yes.
    You can update your selected charity anytime during the challenge in the “My Profile” tab.

  • Donations are allocated based on the miles contributed by participants who selected each charity.

    👉 More miles for a charity = larger share of the unlocked funds

  • The challenge runs until the end date shown in the Challenge tab, where a countdown timer is displayed.

    Only activity completed before the deadline counts.
